Court: Sudanese man accused of causing grievous bodily harm |
A Sudanese man yesterday pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring another man and breaching the peace.
Daniel Haile Tesfamihret, 24, pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring Abraham Ghenremichael Brhane on 29 June outside Tigulio’s in St. Julian’s at about 1am. He was also accused of breaching the peace. The accused’s legal counsel, Anthony Cutajar, said the accused was trying to get into an establishment to meet his wife when the alleged victim refused to let him in. He left the scene and returned later when a fight broke out.
The accused also received facial injuries as a result of the fight. The court also heard how the victim was released from hospital yesterday morning.
The court, presided over by magistrate Michael Mallia, granted bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000. Police Inspectors Martin Sammut and Trevor Micallef prosecuted. |
