Fear of Torture: Abdleaziz Khalid

The case of Mr. Abdelaziz Khalid is a major focus of human rights
activists while millions of families in the US are giving thanks today in
one of the major Holidays: Thanksgiving.

Last night was the first night Mr. Khalid has spent in the custody of
the Security thugs of Khartoum regime. Human rights activists are so
concerned of this based on the infamous history of this institution in
torturing political detainees.

The Khartoum regime knows very well that all human rights groups are
watching and monitoring the detention of Mr. Abdelaziz Khalid however,
fear of torture is still haniging in the air. Sudanese torture survivors
are especially concerned that he might face what is known is
'untraceable torture". This new disgusting technique the regime agents had
bragged about introducing into the country.

The pathetic security elemnt, then Major/Adil Awad admitted using this
technique in April 1992. "You wake up and you don't know what you have
said after we injected you with specific drugs. We do this with people
whom we think have important information" the scum told this writer
during one of the long nights of torture he was supervising in the HQ of
Security in Khartoum (aka al-Amara).

We urge everyone to use her/his maximum efforts to put more pressure on
the Khartoum regime to move Mr. Khalid from the HQ of the Security, and
to be under monitoring of independent entity (e.g. Military Hospital).
