sudanese finalist in the olympics

i am not following the events too closely, but what caught my attention while writing up one of my reports with the tv in the background, is the name of my country.. Sudan
it was one of the semifinal heats for the 800 m of men's track. Ismail Ahmed Ismail , from Sudan has made it into the finals with a time of 1:45.45
i was not aware that we had athletes at that level competing.
can anybody give us some info about this athelete?
