This need our urgent response.. community leaders are being tortured for speaking out to the world on what is happening to them.. we are, ethically, responsible to move urgently and put more pressure on the National Security Apparatus to stop the ongoing torture in Genaina Town. Please do insist on speaking to and urging the Embassy Counselor Mr. Khalid Musa, to do something specific about this ongoing crime in the quarters of the Security in Genaina Town, W. Darfur.

Let’s hold Mr. Musa to his words that he did publicly announce in the previous Sudan Studies Association conference in Santa Clara, CA (Sun 5/30/04)when he sad “I condemn any torture or mistreatment of detainees in Sudan”.



Let’s stop the torture at least for these people right now: Mohamed Ibrahim Gasi (m), Fersha (Masalit leader) of Um Sibeka area; Adam Suleiman (m); Tijani Gamar (m); Annur Tambus (m), the shaikh of Durti in Ardamata camp



The time is critical.. we may be able to stop the horrific physical torture against these brave people who dared and spoke loudly about the mass killing and rape in Darfur.

I have recieved this message from Mohamed Alghadi

Due to the large response to the appeal of GATS to call Sudan Embassy in Washington, the embassy officials began Thursday 8/5 not to pick up the phone to answer the protesting callers. Please keep the pressure by using their email: [email protected] we need to save those who are being tortured right now in Genaina (4 Masalit community leaders) and 47 leaders and villagers (Elfasher) who dared to speak to the foreign UN and African Union investigators who interviewed them (See latest report from Amnesty International-UK on Fri 8/6/04).

The self-appointed president Bashir of Sudan once announced that there was no torture in Sudan, which of course was a big lie defeated by his own Minister of Justice, Abdelaziz Shiddo, who arrogantly said that the Ghost Houses “are meant to give special comfort to the political detainees**” . Now, what are you going to say on this evidence of your Security Apparatus?
