A capturing book that I have been gifted is a book whose title is “Morning in Serra Mattu”. The author, one of the best storytellers anyone can come across, is Arif Gamal Mohamed Ahmed, a progeny of The Jamal Mohamed Ahmed. A Nubian Ode he calls it. A phenomenal epic is what I experienced in his words.

In the ode Arif Gamal beautifully relates stories of his grandmother in Northern Sudan, of his father’s childhood, of his father’s youth, of his interactions and experiences with his father and siblings, national and international historical events in a fashion that is easy to read and capturing to the max.

In this ode words flow, pictures are painted, wisdom is imparted, love is experienced, tears roll, hearts race, breath is held, and laughs are extracted.

I have not done the book much justice, but I do wish that you get a chance to experience first hand the wondrous world this book took me to.
