Today Mervyn Farroe was sworn in as USAID's new Mission Director for Sudan. He will arrive in Khartoum in a few days to begin his post. We were honored by the presence of Sudan's Ambassador to the United States, Nureldin Satti, at our virtual ceremony. MISSION DIRECTOR
Mervyn Farroe was sworn in as USAID’s Mission Director for Sudan in April 2021 and begins his post in May 2021.

He previously served as Acting Director of the Center for Development Innovation in USAID’s Global Development Lab. Before that, he served in Liberia as the Deputy Mission Director and Supervisory Program Officer.

At USAID/Kenya, he was the Supervisory Program Officer and Director of the Agriculture, Business, and Environment Office.

Since joining the Foreign Service in 2001, Mervyn has led USAID Program Offices in Mali, Angola, and Haiti. He also worked with USAID as a Personal Services Contractor in the former Soviet Union and Rwanda, and as an Institutional Contractor in Washington, D.C.

Mervyn received a Master of Science Degree in Agriculture and Resource Economics from the University of Maryland at College Park and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from George Washington University. He speaks French and Portuguese.
