That victory, along with E. S. Setifienne's loss to U.S.M Alger, secured Al Merreikh's place in the semifinals. Mbwana Samatta - TP Mazembe The Tanzania striker made his international debut at 19 and his four goals for TP Mazembe could help him capture the attention of international scouts. Last year, he struck six goals in TP Mazembe's campaign, which ended in the semifinals, and this year he has already netted four times. His most impressive showing was in the final group match, when he scored three of TP Mazembe's five goals against Moghreb Tetouan to ensure they reached the last four. Samatta hopes performances like that will result in interest from Europe. "I don't understand why we don't have players in Europe but I am sure I can be one," he said. "Before I came here, not many people knew about Tanzanian football but that's changing now. As a country, we don't have many players playing overseas so when you play for a big team like Mazembe, everyone notices you." Youcef Belaili - U.S.M Alger Belaili was on the verge of becoming one of the big names of this year's tournament before his tournament ended prematurely. He scored in the preliminary round, first round and the group stages, including a goal against defending champions E. S. Setifienne. U.S.M Alger had a mediocre domestic season in Algeria, finishing eighth, and it means they will not feature in next season's Champions League. Meanwhile, Belaili has ensured he will leave a mark on this year's competition -- but for the wrong reasons. His own impact came to an end when he was was banned for two years after failing a doping test in the match played against Mouloudia Club d'El Eulma on Aug. 7. Belaili decided not to have his B-sample tested and accepted the punishment instead, which not only means he will miss the semifinals but it has also put the Algerian's international career on hold.
