Born & Raised: Born April 4, 1972 in north Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Raised in the Philadelphia area. Early Career: Jill Scott grew up in north Philadelphia and attended Temple University while working two jobs. However, she had to drop out after her junior year when she ran out of money. Jill began her performing career reading her own poetry and attracted a big following in the Pennsylvania/New Jersey/New York area. She was eventually heard by Amir "Questlove" Thompson, drummer for the Philadelphia hip-hop band The Roots, who invited Jill to join the band in the studio. This resulted in the song "You Got Me," which became a Top 40 pop hit for The Roots in 1999. Words and Sounds: Jill later collaborated with Eric Benet, Will "Fresh Prince" Smith and the rapper Common, among others, and broadened her performing experience by touring Canada in a production of the Broadway musical Rent. She eventually signed with the Hidden Beach Recordings label, and in July 2000 released her debut album, Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1. The album went on to sell over two million copies and was nominated for the 2001 Grammy for best R&B album. In the summer of 2001, she released a live album - Experience: Jill Scott 826+ - which has sold over half a million copies to date. "Beautifully Human" and More: In 2004, Jill's third album, Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2 was released, where it peaked at No. 3 on Billboard's albums chart. It has also sold about half a million copies to date. A book of her poetry, The Moments, The Minutes, The Hours was released in April 2005. Also in 2005, she won her first Grammy - Best Urban/Alternative Performance - for the song "Cross My Mind." She's slated to release two albums in 2007, the retrospective Jill Scott: Collaborations and a collection of all-new material called The Real Thing. Blues Babe Foundation: In 2002-2003, Scott took an extended break from recording music. During that time she got married and established the Blues Babe Foundation, a program founded to help young minority students pay for college. The Blues Babe Foundation specifically focuses on students in Philadelphia, Camden, N.J. and the greater Delaware Valley area, and financially supports students between the ages of 16 to 21. ما يعجبنى فيها إنحيازها لبنات جنسها بشكل قوي جدا
إستغلت تواجد عدد كبير من اهل الموسيقى فى مهرجان غنائي وجاهرت برأيها حول إستغلال صورة المرأة فى أغاني ال rap ووصفت مضمون هذه الاغاني بالقذرة
وطالبت جمهور المستمعين بعدم الاستماع لهذه النوعية من الاغاني

احببت اغانيها منذ سبعة اعوام خلال مشاهدتي لها فى برامج الموسيقى فى عدد من
قنوات التلفزة
اتمنى ان افرد لها هنا العديد من الأغاني الراقية حتى يقف الاخرين على جمال

كان لعازف الايقاع والصحفي الموسيقي الشهير Ahmir-Khalib Thompson المعروف بـ uestlove اثرا كبيرا فى حياة Jill Scott حيث كان اول من اكتشفها وانتبه لموهبتها فى الغناء بعد مشاهدتها فى مناسبات كانت تلقى فيها القصائد الغنائية بشكل hخاذ .. وطلب منها الانضمام لفرقة Roots وسرعان ما انطلقت فى عالم الغناء والشهرة ونزل اول البوم غنائي لها عام 2000 تضمن اغنية ( A Long Walk) الجميلة
فازت Jill Scott بالعديد من الجوائز الكبيرة حيث نالت جائزة Grammy لافضل مغنية راب (فردي) عام 2001 عن اغنية A Long Walk ، كما فازت عام 2005 بنفس الجائزة عن اغنيتها Cross my mind وفازت عام 2007 بالاشتراك مع جورج نستون وجارو فيت بجائزة Grammy عن اغنية God Bless the Child

وله رسالة اجتماعية قبل ان يكون مساحة للفرح واشاعة الطرب والبهجة فى النفوس
بعد قتل الثائر العظيم مارتن لوثر كينج لم تستطع الشرطة وقف عمليات العنف التي اجتاحت بعض
الولايات الامريكية التي يشكل فيها السود الاغلبية، فلجأت الى عدة وسائل ولم تفلح ، استعانوا فى
نهاية المطاف بالمغني الكبير الراحل جيمس براون الذى خاطب اخوانه السود بالكف عن العنف .. وكان
لهم ما ارادوا ... فكرة الاستعانة ببراون فى حد زاتها كان لعبة زكية من الشرطة الامريكية التى
ادركت اهمية وشعبية براون لدى السود آنذاك .. وكان لا يقل شعبية عن اى زعيم سياسي اسود
هنا تتجلى قوة تأثير من يساهمون فى تشكيل الوعي الجمعى فى مجتمع معين ، وبالطبع تتفاوت وسائل
وطرق تشكيل هذا الوعى ... والفن بشكل عام احد اقوى هذه الطرق
