من الواضح أن السيد الترابي لم يتخل عن نرجسيته المعهودة والتي يحاول أن يضفي عليها مسحة من التواضع والزهد. ويبدو ذلك جلياص من إجابته على السؤال التالي:
Do you see yourself the next president of the nation?
No. No. No. I am getting old. I don't have time to waste in protocol and in appointing a minister and firing another, receiving a head of state and seeing off another. It is not part of my dream to walk on red carpets.
There are many people who are younger than me who could do the job better than me. A man or a woman in 40s or 50s will lead the nation better than a 75-year-old man like me.
ما وراء السطور: أنا قادر على حكم السودان ولكن أفضل أن يقوم غيري بالبرتكولات مثل تعيين وخلع الوزراء واستقبال الرؤساء واستعراض حرس الشرف، الخ.. أنا أكبر من ذلك
