Here are two ideas for political action concerning Africa, from an organization
called Africa Faith and Justice Network

1) 30days ago, President Bush appointed Andrew Natsios to be the Special Envoy
to Sudan. Today, nothing has changed for the two million people displaced and
terrorized by the ongoing genocide in Darfur. As the death toll continues to
rise and the rhetoric of our policymakers has not translated into decisive
action, please call the White House today at 202-456-1111 and leave a message
for President Bush. Tell him that you are concerned and that until he puts
genuine economic and political pressure on the Sudanese government, the terror
in Darfur will not stop.

2) As of today, there has been twenty years of war in northern Uganda between
the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and the Ugandan Army, during which the LRA has
kidnapped tens of thousands of children and forced them to fight as child
soldiers and to submit to being child wives of soldiers. In October, over seven
hundred people convened to march on Washington from forty states, calling for
the U.S. government to publicly support ongoing negotiations that could bring a
lasting end to the twenty year war in northern Uganda. While the heat has
dramatically turned up on Congress, the State Department is not yielding to
pressure. Yesterday, the Lord's Resistance Army and the Government of Uganda
signed an extension to their ceasefire agreement, a major step forward for the
process. But the U.S. government continues to avoid endorsing the negotiations.
Please email your Member of Congress today urging public support for this
opportunity to end the war in northern Uganda. You can find out who your Member
of Congress is and her/his contact info here: http://www.house.gov/writerep/
