My grandfather’s scent
A room filled with my cousin’s laughter

Where an honest prophet
Tells me that bigotry is not religion
Loathing is sin
To people
I have known to do
Instead
Of hovering on a well written speech
A home land
Where
I am
Neither submissive nor a whore
A state of being

Friends with wide open doors
Taking me in
Laughter, luggage and broken dreams


Unlike the alleys I ran from
Too many visions
Yet nothing to be seen

Away from the salty oceans of my heart
