Top greetings and highest regards to you, Mr. Jerzy Skuratowicz.
On behalf of the Abyei community we welcome you to Sudan and wish you a nice stay.
With respect and honor to your Agency UNDP Abyei Area had never seen changes since 1905 except in the war time UNDP supported local peace confident. After CPA UNDP through Sher Hussaini jumped to support peace and stability by exploring basic social needs in the area:
1. Covering water by rehabilitating all water yards;
2. Rehabilitating all schools and hospitals (Abyei and Meiram);
3. Rights now the current UNDP Abyei work plan paper “Road Construction & Institutional Support”.
Now we have been informed that Sher has been relocated to another area. We feel if Sher goes away this means that it is suspension to activities of year 2006.
Sher Hussaini has been making strong efforts to bring the community together and does not segregate communities of Abyei with their complex formation. What he gives to Dinka is the same to Misserya. Peace reconciliator this is Sher.
For this reason we are kindly asking you to reconsider your transfer and have him stay in Abyei .We are not objecting your office policies, but we evaluate your sub-Office to be a model as well as it will achieve stability and progress in Abyei Area.
Your new person may need a time with community on how to implement community participation. Rainy season is almost approaching.
Your respond to our request is highly anticipated and to be demonstrated.
