I think you have to
elaborate more on the problem so that I can understand the real cause of it.
It's not clear to me now whether it's a space problem(memory shortage), a database problem or a server problem? However I'm guessing it's a space problem, and for this kind of problems the best solution in my opinion is to get an additional internal or external HD (they're cheap now) a one that uses USB or USB2 connection and backup all ur old posts to that additional HD,this is far better than backing to a cd.
If it's a database problem you 've to tell what kind of database do u use, so we can work on a solution. Sometimes the design of the database can make alot of problems once it gets large. Try to use indexes and key words for the search, this will make it more faster, May be u 've to redesign the whole database if it's a database problem but I hope ur database it allright.

try to elaborate more on the problem for better diagnosing, and for us to find the right solution.
