Supply/Technical Manager - Gum Arabic
Job location: Khartoum
Salary: an attractive package available depends on qualifications and experience.

An international food ingredients company is seeking to recruit a Supply/Technical Manager in the field of Gum Arabic in Sudan.

The ideal candidate will be self motivated, have a food technology background, speak fluent English/Arabic and have a good degree of commercial savvy. Knowledge of the Gum Arabic business would be an advantage but not necessary. The company would anticipate that the candidate will have worked in a related food industry for some years either in a commercial or technical capacity.

Ideal candidate should be single, mid 20’s to mid 30's and open to travel as required within the gum belt, and be unencumbered to spend a period of months/year in Europe for initial training. An initial period of training in the company’s factory in the U.K is expected, possibly elsewhere, followed by reassignment back to the region.

The ideal candidate’s role will encompass the following areas:

Supplier Liaison/the company’s factory interface.
Quality monitoring of purchased raw materials.
Shipping arrangement follow up.
Crop and price reports.

The ideal candidate will act as the company’s eyes and ears in the supply belt, arrange all travel arrangements for Head Office Staff within the region, monitor contracts placed by Head Office and ensure that call offs placed by factory are met in a timely fashion. The foregoing will entail liaison with suppliers to ensure all required pre-shipment samples/documentation etc are supplied to the company in a timely fashion.

The candidate will also be responsible for monitoring quality from suppliers and supporting our factory Quality Assurance Dept efforts to assure supply integrity. Additionally, the candidate will gather and regularly supply crop reports and activities/purchases of competitors in the region and similarly activities of all suppliers of raw gum within the gum belt.

A competitive compensation package will be offered commensurate with qualifications, experience and background.
