Sudanese American organizations and dissidents in US Call for the deportation of the Consul of Sudan Embassy in Washington, D.C.
Urgent appeal from the Sudanese American organizations
Date: 9/7/17
On June 30, 2017, the Sudanese American opposition groups and dissidents gathered in front of the Sudan embassy in Washington, D.C. to commemorate the 28th anniversary of the Islamist military coup led by General Omer Elbashir and late Dr. Hassan Elturabi, the Godfather of the Muslim Brotherhood Organization which toppled the last democratically elected government of Sudan. The authorized demonstration aimed at denouncing the ongoing brutal war waged by the Sudanese regime against the Sudanese people, mainly the indiscriminate genocide in Darfur, Nuba Mountain and Blue Nile and the vast atrocities and violations against human rights in different parts of Sudan where the Janjaweed, the Islamic militia aka the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the instigated tribal wars in the north and South Sudan, the human trafficking and hosting terrorist elements and organizations etc.
The demonstrators demanded keeping the Sudan in the list of states sponsoring terrorism and imposing more pressures on the oppressive and deceptive government of Sudan who pretends fighting terrorism to deceive the free world while covertly supporting the terrorist organizations and militants from the Arab and Islamic world as It became clear in the case of the State of Qatar, the closest ally to Sudan and other Islamist regimes and organizations.
While the protesters were shouting and waving the slogans and banners in front of the Sudan embassy, the Consul at the Sudan embassy, Mr. Eisa Elrashid Shamseldin, the security agent holding a diplomatic assignment in the embassy came out of the embassy of Sudan and started arguing with the demonstrators and videotaping the protesters in an intimidating and provocative manner to the protestors and asking the protestors: “aren’t you going back to Sudan؟ I’m in front of my embassy”. As a natural reaction to the intense provocation and threats of the Sudan embassy's Consul, the angered protesters denounced his abominable threatening act, which goes beyond American law and norms by shouting at him: “Down... Down... Security Dog... Elbashir to ICC. NCP to ICC etc. and one protester tried to stop him from videotaping the demonstrators without their consent.
On behalf of the Sudanese American organizations and asylees who include victims of torture in the ill-famed Ghost Houses, genocide in Darfur and relatives of thousands of killed by explosive barrels in Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile, we call upon the US Department of State and US Congress to urgently:
• Declare the Consul of Sudan embassy, Eisa Elrashid Shamseldin as persona non-grata and deport him immediately from USA to Sudan,
• Keep the Sudanese regime of General Omer Elbashir in the US list of States sponsoring terrorism and exert more pressures on it to adhere to the international laws and norms as asked by many US Congress members.
