لجنة حقوق الانسان بالكونقرس تندد بدعوة كرتى وغندور و(حريات) تنشر نص البيان

أصدر الرئيسان المشتركان للجنة لحقوق الانسان بالكونقرس الامريكى – لجنة لانتوس – بياناً مشتركاً 5 فبراير الجارى يرفضان فيه دعوة كرتى وغندور الى افطار الصلاة القومية فى واشنطن .

وقال رئيسا اللجنة جميس ماكفرن وفرانك وولف (نحن قلقون بشدة من التقارير التى تفيد بان اثنين من المتهمين بالتورط فى الابادة الجماعية فى السودان – وزير الخارجية على أحمد كرتى ود. ابراهيم غندور من الحزب الوطنى الحاكم – تمت دعوتهما لافطار الصلاة القومية . ببساطة لم يكن ينبغى دعوة هذين المسؤولين لحضور فعالية باسم الكونقرس الذى أصدر قراراً يدين الحكومة السودانية بارتكاب الابادة الجماعية وجرائم ضد الانسانية . وهذا الافطار ، كمناسبة للتنويه بالذكرى المائة لابادة الأرمن ، لابد ان يشكل لحظة لتأكيد ان عبارة (ليس مرة اخرى) لها معنى حقيقى . اننا ندعو جميع المشاركين فى افطار الصلاة القومية ، بما فى ذلك رئيس الولايات المتحدة الامريكية ، للتنديد علناً وبقوة باستمرار ارتكاب جرائم حقوق الانسان بواسطة حكومة عمر البشير فى السودان ، خصوصاً بالفظائع التى ترتكب شبه يومياً فى دارفور والنيل الازرق وجنوب كردفان.).

Bart Fisher, whose law firm provides legal advice to Sudan's government with the aim of "untangling" the US sanctions regime, told Business Insider he did not know who invited Karti to the prayer breakfast and was not aware of the purpose of Karti's visit to the US. "That's news to me that he attended the National Prayer Breakfast," Fisher said when reached for comment Thursday morning.

. Ibrahim Ghandour, a close adviser to Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir, is also in the US to meet with the office of the US' special envoy to Sudan and South Sudan. Ghandour is reportedly in the US so that American officials can discuss the Khartoum regime's refusal to allow US special envoy Donald Booth to visit Sudan and to figure out ways to improve ongoing bilateral dialogue between the countries.

The State Department might have decided that blocking Karti from visiting the US would jeopardize its objectives in meeting with Ghandour and would have been needlessly provocative in the run-up to this fairly high-level diplomatic meeting
