To the Central Committee and membership of the Communist Party of Sudan.

It was with great indignation that we learned that once again, the regime of Omar Hassan Al-Bashir has stopped the publication and distribution of your excellent newspaper, al Midan, and other opposition publications in the Sudan.

We are aware that this has happened before, and that due to your active struggle, al Midan was able to resume publishing.

However, this does not make this heavy handed action by the Sudanese government acceptable. The evidence suggests that the suppression of your paper was because of its effectiveness in bringing vital information on the country’s social and economic problems to the Sudanese working class and masses.

They can suppress the messenger (temporarily) but they will not be able to suppress the message of liberation that your party and its press bring to the Sudanese people.

We wish you the best of fortune in getting Al Midan back into publication and in your struggle for a new Sudan.
