On December 13th, 2012 after 9 months in detention with charges, Jalila Khamis , the Nuba woman activist has been presented to court today, facing serious charges could lead to her execution. Jaila today had been formally charged of undermining the constitutional system which article 50 , and Waging war against the state , under article 51 , in addition to article 53 ” Espionage against the state which could lead to execution.




Jalia khamis is a45 years old mother of 5 , a teacher and a Nuba women human rights defender , she had been arrested on March 14th , 2012 at 2:00AM from her house and taken wearing her sleeping clothes , her family didn’t knew her whereabouts for two days , where she had been detained by the Sudanese security . she had subjected to torture , verbal abuse , and had been detained in solitary cell in the security detentions in Omdurman for 2 and half month .

Jalila hosted in her house of tow rooms 20 peoples from her home region of Nuba mountains when the war erupted in June 2011 , she had been detained for helping her own peoples when they fled the war to Khartoum and for speaking publicly about their catastrophic situation .

The Sudanese WHRD’s Project and Arry organization for human rights call on the Sudanese Government to respect Jalila right to have lawyers and respect the international standards of justice and insure Jalila fair , public and just trial .We also call them to insure her full access to lawyer and family in addition to proper healthcare.

WHRD IC calls for immediate release of Jalila Khamis Koko in Sudan

Statement by the Women Human Rights Defenders International Coalistion - 13th December 2012


The Women Human Rights Defenders International Coalition (WHRD IC) condemns the prolonged detention without trial of teacher and activist Jalila Khamis Koko in Sudan.

Jalila Khamis Koko has been detained without charge for more than eight months, which exceeds the pre-trial detention period prescribed under international law and Sudanese national law. Jalila’s prolonged detention undermines her right to a fair trial and puts her at a great risk of torture and other ill-treatment.

There have been contradicting accounts on Jalila’s case indicating a persistent uncertainty on the status of her detention and on the progress of her case. No official charges have been issued against Jalila. However, the National Security Services (NSS) have reportedly pressed charges against her on six criminal counts, five of which fall under the category of crimes against the state, including two which carry the death penalty. Since then, the criminal prosecutor has been renewing her detention every week, so that she can be questioned.

Jalila Khamis Koko is a member of the opposition party Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement – North (SPLM-N), which was banned in September 2011. She is a member of the Nuba ethnic group from Southern Kordofan. She was arrested on 15 March 2012 at her home in the capital, Khartoum, by agents of the National Security Services (NSS). She was transferred to Omdurman prison, after spending three months in solitary confinement in the NSS detention centre, where she has been detained ever since. During this time, her physical and mental state has considerably deteriorated.

The detention of Jalila Khamis Koko appears to be part of a pattern of detention of SPLM-N activists and intellectuals, as well as of people of Nuba descent that the Sudanese authorities believe are affiliated to the SPLM-N.

The Coalition is very concerned about Jalila Khamis Koko, who is held solely for her humanitarian work and for the peaceful expression of her views.

We demand the government of Sudan to:

Release Jalila Khamis Koko immediately and unconditionally;

Ensure Jalila Khamis Koko is not tortured or otherwise ill-treated;

Stop the harassment and intimidation of SPLM-N activists and intellectuals, as well as people of Nuba descent.

لمن لم يحضر محكمه الاستاذه جليلة خميس

جليلة خميس تواجه الاعدام لانها طالبت بوقف الحرب في جبال النوبة مجريات المحكمة
منع الناس من الدخول ..وسمح فقط للمحامين والصحفيين وعدد محدود من أقاربها ....وعند بداية الجلسة طلب الامنجي أحمد رئيس هيئة الاتهام من القاضي منع النشر في القضية ووافق القاضي مع أن النشر محظور اصلا بقرار الأمن والرقابة القبلية واللحظية على الصحف .
*تأخرت المحكمة نصف ساعة لأن المتحري الجديد كان يطلع على محضر التحري لأول مرة بعد أن اصيب المتحري القديم بفشل كلوي
*الشاكي ملازم أمن عبدالرحمن بشير والتهمة أن جليلة خميس ادلت بتصريح (على شريط فيديو )قالت فيه أن هناك قصف للمواطنين في جنوب كردفان بالطائرات وان هناك أبادة جماعية وان هناك جماعة يقومون بقتل المواطنين في جنوب كردفان ...هذه هي التهمة حسب الشاكي ..فانظروا الى التحري ماذا قال ؟
*تلى المتحري يوميات التحري ..ثم عرض شريط سي دي وهو الشريط الذي صورته المدونة نجلاء سيد احمد كدليل اتهام واستمعت المحكمة لجليلة خميس تحكي عن سوء الاوضاع الانسانية في جنوب كردفان وان الاطفال والنساء هم الاكثر معاناة ،وناشدت المجتمع الدولي وكل العاملين في مجال حقوق الانسان بتقديم المساعدات والعمل من أجل ايقاف الحرب أولا لأن الحرب يتاذى منها الابرياء من النساء والاطفال وقالت أن هناك تخطيط مسبق للحرب وان هناك تواجد عسكري كثيف وعدد من قوات الاحتياطي المركزي دخلت المنطقة قبل الحرب وان هناك قصف مكثف بطائرات الأنتنوف وطائرات أخرى مختلفة وان هناك قتل بوحشية شديدة للمواطنين ..وان هناك ابادة جماعية لسكان المنطقة
*استاذ ساطع الحاج مثل الدفاع في استجواب المتحري ..مفندا مواد الاتهام التي تواجهها جليلة وهي المواد 21 ،50 ،51 64، 66 من القانو الجنائي والتي تتحدث عن التخابر والتآمر لتقويض النظام الدستوري وأشانة السمةوالكذب الضار ..
*المتحري كان ضعيفا ومرتبكا في ردوده على ساطع بحجة انه ليس المتحري الاصلي وقال انه لايعلم أن هناك حربا في جنوب كردفان واقر بأن يوميات التحري لم تتحر عن الحرب والموت وقصف الطائرات في جنوب كردفان ،وان يوميات التحري لم تتحر مع أي شخص آخر حضر الاجتماع أو الفيديو،وأقر بأن الفحص الجنائي للسي دي أظهر جليلةخميس وهي تتحدث عن الاوضاع الانسانية السيئة في جبال النوبة وتناشد العالم والمجتمع الدولي للمساعدة والمساهمة في حل مشكلة جبال النوبة بالوقف الفوري لاطلاق النار .وهذه هي التهمة التي تواجهها الاستاذة جليلة خميسة انها تحدثت عن معاناة اهلها وطالبت بوقف الحرب فورا
