1- We urge the Obama Administration to Give urgent priority to protecting civilian populations in the areas of South Kordofan and Blue Nile in Sudan by all means necessary including disabling the military runways that bombers take off from to attack civilians in the these regions to show the Sudan Government that the US will not sit idle while it slaughters its own innocent people..
2. Continue to urgently press for full and unimpeded access for international humanitarian organizations to South Kordofan and Blue Nile to save the lives of thousands of people in these regions who face starvation.
3. Stop the peace-meal approach to solving the Sudanese problems as this approach has proven its failure and has led to more problems. Instead, a comprehensive solution should be sought that addresses all the problems that have their origin in the monopoly of power by the National Congress Party, lack of democracy, human rights violations and the unwillingness of the regime to solve the remaining issues of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA). Such a solution can only be achieved by removing the current regime because it is the root cause of these problems.
4. Impose robust financial sanctions, and seek international financial sanctions, against persons (and their associated businesses) responsible for attacks against civilians.
5. Increase efforts to establish an international commission of inquiry and take all the necessary measures to apprehend ICC suspects and increase international support for further ICC cases targeting those responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity that were and are still been committed against civilians in Abyei, Blue Nile and South Kordofan and other parts of Sudan.
The Government of Sudan continues to launch vicious attacks on innocent civilians in the areas of the South Kordofan and Blue Nile. These attacks are targeting refugee camp and innocent civilians in their homes and farms. Many people in these areas are facing the danger of severe famine.
For one year now, President Bashir has sealed off these areas in an effort to crush the rebel force, blocking food shipments and emergency aid, leading to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of ordinary Nubans from their homes and are now taking refuge in caves in the mountains living on tree leaves, roots and insects.
How long will President Obama’s Administration let the Government of Sudan murder, starve and displace innocent people?
It is high time that the international community led b the USA demand that the Government of Sudan immediately cease conducting offensive military flights in and over the states of South Kordofan and Blue Nile.
We urge President Obama to lead the way and help stop the Sudan Government killing its own people. As the New York Times columnist, Mr. Nicholas Kristof said “When governments turn to mass murder, we may have no easy solutions, but we should at least be crystal clear about which side we’re on. That’s not too much to expect of a Nobel Peace Prize winner.” New York Times, June 9, 2012.
