US to remove Sudan from sponsors of terrorism list

Quote: Q: You mentioned recently in a press statement that the USA has a roadmap for the normalization of relations with Sudan. Can you tell us about the main features of this road-map? A: We have in our discussions with the Government set-up what can be called a kind of a road-map for the normalization of relations and that will lead ultimately to full normal relations. The first step in that direction was for example to see that the January 2011 Referendum be successful and the results recognized and that went very well. And we congratulated both parties who had worked very hard for the success of the Referendum President Obama as part of the understanding between our two governments has started the process on how to remove Sudan name from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism and lifting sanctions .To achieve this, we need to work together in completing the obligations under the CPA and bring peace to Darfur because most of the sanctions that Congress has enacted grow out of the situation in Darfur.
