El Imam El Sadiq would serve his old Uma party very well if he quits politics and dedicates the rest of his life to pondering on theoretical Islam in Academia and in the mosques. It appears that the loquacious Dr. El Sadiq is completely out of touch with the Sudanese reality-the daily Mohammed Ahmed’s or Deng’s bottom line, that is, sending kids to school, something in the stomach, medicine, clean water, roofs on the to top, ..Etc.
The self-determination referenda is coming up in eight months and the looming potential of the South becoming its own is almost certain and the prime reason being the very virtuous cycle (might as well be vicious)- Islam-versus-Islam. It, the cycle, allows him and the Islamists in the Sudan to actually think that they do not need to think, that the future of the multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-cultural and multi-religious Sudan has to be framed on the basis of their Islamo-arab ideas and only accommodations are required for those who voice dismay over the lack of political sensibleness.
