Part of Times Square Evacuated After 'Suspicious Package' Report Part of Times Square was evacuated between West 44th and West47th Streets after the police received reports of asuspicious package at Broadway and West 46th Street at about12:45 p.m. It was the second suspicious-package call and atleast partial evacuation in the area of the day

Within 30 minutes, police officers cleared the area and brought in a bomb squad to check the bag.




An earlier bomb scare at Eighth Avenue and 45th Street prompted a brief evacuation before 9 a.m. Friday. They found a gray shirt, white tube socks, a toothbrush and pens.

The police deemed the bag not suspicious and left the scene before 11 a.m.
