The World Bank has debarred Macmillan Limited after the U.K. publishing group admitted to paying bribes during the implementation of an education project funded through the Sudan Multi-Donor Trust Fund.



Macmillan will be ineligible to be awarded bank-financed contracts for six years, although the debarment can be reduced to three years subject to continued cooperation. The original debarment period of eight years was reduced to six because Macmillan acknowledged its misconduct early.



Under the terms of the agreement, Macmillan and its subsidiaries must cooperate with World Bank’s integrity vice presidency, implement a compliance monitoring program and engage a compliance monitor to ensure the
