سوزان هلال (ولدت في العام 1984 في السودان) وهي رسامة (سودانية-انجليزية). تربت في الخرطوم على يد والدها السوداني ووالدتها الانجليزية قبل ان تنتقل اسرتها الى بريطانيا حيث درست و تخرجت من كلية الدراسات الشرقية والافريقية في جامعة لندن بريطانيا . حاليا تعيش وتعمل في هايد بارك ، شيكاغو ، الينوي الولايات المتحدة الامريكية

سوزان هلال اعمالها الفنية تتم عبر وسائط فنية متعددة بما في ذلك تصميم الطباعة ، و الرسم بواسطة الباستيل والدهانات . سوزان هلال علمت نفسها الرسم بنفسها

لديها معرض كامل في جامعة إلينوي في شيكاغو ، الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في الفترة من الاول الى 31 من ابريل 2010. كما ستعرض كامل اعمالها في بلدها الام السودان في مقهى (أوم) و هو مقهى جديد في الرياض الخرطوم.

Often I will just see something, it can be a person, an object or even just a colour that emotionally moves me and it is that emotion that I try to capture on paper. Sometimes I am successful and at other times I am not. Sometimes my paintings just flow out of me and they seem to take no time at all but then there are the times that I spend weeks agonizing over a piece just not being able to capture the emotion that I want. But the more I paint the better I become at controlling my work and expressing exactly what is that I see in my mind.

I always start my work by sketching out what I want to draw and once I am happy with that I will start painting in my choice of medium. I do not always plan out exactly what it is I want to draw, a lot will come to me as I go along.

The portraits I have painted were all inspired and based on close family members from my younger brother to uncles, aunts and cousins. The ink pieces I have done try to capture everyday images of Sudan, they are images that I have seen either recently or in the past and they represent what comes to my mind when I think of Sudan.

My experience of being raised both as Sudanese and English has had a huge impact on my life. It has allowed me understand and be a part of two very different cultures, it has shaped who I am today, my identity, my personality and in turn my artwork. I think all my pieces express a fragment of my diversity, from the mediums I use to the subjects of my paintings.

I just hope that my work moves you in some way and stirs something inside of you.
