O that good land
Of forest and desert
With desert and forest
Narrate to that Nile
Of fine poetic eye
How can most of your
Innocent sons and children
Upon this divine sun-rise
Of birth and life
In bliss and joy
Utter and say they
Are part of you
While to the shock and
Surprise of your Nile
O kind mild mother
Of country and land
They look and eye
At each other by
That savage red eye
Of malice and down
Only oh you mother
Of Sudan and country
Alive to shroud and drown
At that sunless land
Of death and demise
Where that fine sun
Of truth and light
Does glitter and rise
Through all of the time
Of puzzle and mystery .
