وسيلة على يفتري الكذب والنفاق حول أبيي!

Burma, a native of the oil rich region of Abyei, belongs to the Arab tribe of Messiriyah which has a strong presence in the region. The Umma party enjoys substantial support among the Messiriyah tribe.

Last week Sudanese president Omar Hassan Al-Bashir said that the NCP is committed to the Abyei Protocol only with the border of 1905. He further said the government is not concerned with Abyei Boundaries Commission (ABC) report and that the latter is of no value to them.

The Umma party has generally been supportive of Khartoum’s stance on Abyei and considers it to be part of the North. Some of the Messiriyah tribe leaders have threatened to take arms if forced to be part of the South.

اوضح لي يااخ بجونك اين قلت في اي مقالة لي ان ابيي جزء من الشمال؟؟؟ يبدو انك فهمت الجملة غلط. انا كنت اتحدث عن فضل الله برمة انه ينتمي لقبيلة المسيرية ولم اقل ان ابيي ملك المسيرية.اقرا الجملة بتمعن وانتبه للفواصل!

وبعدين لست انا الذي اخد المواقف في سياق عملي الصحفي الذي يتطلب الحياد التام. عيب عليك هذه الألفاظ وهذا المستوى

First of all,let me apologize to you for the above outburst and I'm not proud of it. And let me correct a factual error in your report: Mr. Burma is from Muglad and not Abyie.

Thanks Zakariya. It was an official from the Umma Party who told me Burma was from Abyei. He must have meant that he is from Messeriyah with a presence in Ayei.

The Abyei issue is an emotional problem for those who have been affected by it. I respect your reporting on sudan Tribune and sometimes you, wittingly or unwittingly,neglect to check some facts on your reporting. The above piece is a prime example.

well I took the word of the Umma party official which Burma is a memeber of. If you can give you me other examples of "inaccuate" reporting by me I would appreciate it. Thanks

I do not have anything at hand and I do not believe that you personally have an ax to grind. Officials at UMA party do. Mr. Burma is responsible for arming the Misseria Malitia in 1980s, it was not the Ingaz. He is the one who has an ax to grind.

Brother Zakaria please understand that my personal opinions and beliefs do not play any role in my reporting. Rest assured of that. Our credibility and balanced reporting mean alot to us in Sudan Tribune. As far as errors all news agencies make mistakes on a daily basis and correct it in later editions. This is normal. Contentious issue such as that of Abyei requires careful and balanced reporting. You can not take one side of the story for granted without cross checking it. That is all. We are all prone to making mistakes.

Well the bottomline is that I did not take sides. What you are talking about is a factual error related to background info. While Burma is not from Abyei, he is still from Al-Meseriya tribe. It is not for my place to say Abyei belongs to one party or the other.

I do the same thing that you do for living. I'm not suggesting that you take sides. What at stake here Wasil, and as a journalist you have to instinctively take notice of it, is the credence in your reporting. An informed reader can easily infer from that piece that Sudan Tribune has been used by UMA party as a banana. There is a potential disaster in the Abyei conflict and the UMA party has everything to lose if the Misseria and Dnika tribes decide to live side by side. You should have asked the other side and report both views without redacting anything out. That what I meant by balanced reporting.
