In sudan, where superstitions are common, some people strongly believe that the country is labored on by some invisible mysterious powers . Unfortunately, the truth has nothing to do with superstitions, because the reasons discouraging investors from coming to Sudan and making an investment –propelled development unachievable are found in Khartoum, the financial capital and the seat of government of Sudan. …. In Khartoum, lives the selfish colony/community of politicians who are ruling Sudan ever since independence back in 1956. This group tightened its grip on the power and wealth of the country, denying others from peripheral Sudan their fair share even of the resources generated in their own regions? Thus the country descended into chronic unrest and instability which became a phenomena characterizing Sudan since as early as 1956???? The out-of- touch Khartoum group still believes that it can rise up time and again from ashes like a phoenix and resume its control over the whole collapsed country . The currently ruling tyranny is, but , the last up-dated version of a pro-Khartoum government , as peripheral regions vow not to settle for anything less than fundamental change of the whole , corrupt post-independence political establishment of Sudan . Such instable environment,understandably, constitutes no ideal place for profit-seeking investors ,in addition to the constitutional/institutional state-approved corruption? Interestingly though, the now ruling regime(which is the most corrupt in the whole world) is still trying in vain, to lure investors by talking, incessantly, about the attractive investment opportunities and the vast untapped resources of the war-ravaged country? As expected, some opportunist investors came in and ended up holding the bag, later on they escaped and made a lot of fuss in the global media of Sudan’s hocus pocus investment. Others visited the country to explore the much-talked-of opportunities, and when they identified the sheer impossibility of investing in Sudan, they chose to flee. Nonetheless, the desperate-for-money regime (which pocketed all the massive cash injections derived from oil gold exports) is still, unabatedly, knocking on all doors to attract prospectus investors, yet with little success so far? By contrast, the regime’s dire search for investment is not motivated by bringing about development and prosperity for the country and its people, on the contrary, the focus is on a bite of the expected cash flow, through taxation and commissions? But before investors come, which is unlikely any way. The regime needs to reconcile its out-dated investment laws and conform them with the latest global regulations in the field. Moreover, they need to realize that, for investors to come there should be a viable politically stable, corruption-free environment.
