Al-Noor Ahmed is a Sudanese editorial advisor. Last Thursday, He gave us a grim picture of life in Libya that commemorated the 4th anniversary of February 17 revolutionary up-rising.
As for the fate that await many of Libyans, he wrote “…libyans have face mysterooius options. While the old regime tries to sieze country’s power, revolutionary fighters are desperate for the completion of their uprising before being purused by gallows. First, he pointed out the reason why majority of post-revolution Libyans feel demoralized. That‘s as he put it was the evaporation of their hope of a democratic transfer of power. “ Libya is on brink of collapse” He wrote . Then, he described the process of collapse as resulting from the proliferation of armed militias that split Libya into two opposing government , parliament and armies that caused an urban fighting, disruption and have become notorious for assassinations and bombings. He went on to emphasize that the most serious development was the transition of political struggle into a conflict of an identity and ethnicity. He described Libya as a puzzle formed out of torn corpses and the turn of bloody events that drew a new map. He went on to add “’…There ‘s no existence of legitimacy that went from Tripoli parliament to Tobruk and then was re-instated to Tripoli”.
He commended the Arab spring that carried from Tunisia to the Western ambience of Libya a small breeze of freedom and human dignity. He added that after 42 years of oppression and suppression, Libyan people breathed a sigh of relief.
A s far as the deteriorated security situation was concerned, he claimed that it had led to the depletion of fiscal resources and decrease of oil production and subsequently he said that that threatens with the collapse of public essential services. The division among the various ethnic enclaves uprising against Ghadafi is in plain sight. .He attributed the absence of the spirit of unity to the lack of a common enemy. According to him, the warring factions in Libya are represented in the Libya dawn, Fajr Libya which he alleged as being supported by Islamists. He indicated that it saw internal defections like the dignity alliance an operation headed by General Haftar who is backed by states antagonistic to the Muslim Brothehood.
“A solo national effort for reconstruction ‘s n’t enough . he wrote. He suggested attracting an international and regional assistence to accelerate building the state at the level of army, security and other institutions in Libya He expressed his regret that some of countries that share with Libya desert on the joint boundaries have been implicated in the conflict instead of brokering a political settlement on the rational that is the solution to avoid the infection of terrorism.
He expressed concern that Sudan would neber be intact from the raging fire in libya. He argued that the collapse of regime leaves the door open for the expansion of anarchy ,the influx of weapons and the infilitration of refugees and terrorists through the lengthy borders that are hard to keep under guard and surveilence.
He concluded “Some of the dispute parties in Libya suspect Sudan of supporting thier opponents to drag into the war.And that revives in minds the labelling of sudan attitude toward the Gulf war whose cost the country is still paying.”.
