Far back as I can remember in an episode of "The night breezes" Sudan television series , Abdulkarim Al-kabli, the ambassador of the Good will sang –Habibat omri-my life time darling. I inferred from him that song of love was inspired a return trip from Sennar town . There , he and some musicians visited professor named Dr. Ahmed Ayoub Al-Ghadal who joined them in the song and their voices blended in a sweet tenderness. It transpired that Dr. Ahmed Ayoub Al-Ghadal was a man of un-assaulted taste.
My frail person yearned to see him in flesh at Sennar University in Sudan. "Your identity card?' the university guard asked me. My mind wandered. I remembered the Palestinian poet Zeyad Tawfiq answer to customs official some where at Arab Airports or Israeli checkpoints :I have nothing but the love of my woman and the milk of children". I stayed out at reception room like those chilled and stray leaves of Charles Dickens at a cathedral door in the "Mystery of Edwin Drood". By chance, Ahmed Ayoub Al-Ghadal arrived. He took me to the warm dry interior at his office where U.N poster on the wall said : refugee is n't a bundle of belongings. Even Einstein was a refugee! He interrupted my contemplation as he asked " Coffee or tea? The beads of rain that formed on my lips and I licked was as sweet as the hot tea he served me.
The welcome extended to me made me feel complacent . When Dr. Ahmed Ayoub Al-Ghadal learned that I wanted to ask him some questions, he apologized for his hectic timetable. But , he handed me a copy of an Arabic Newspaper that published an article that acquainted me with some aspects of his life that appealed to me. Dr. Ahmed Ayoub Al-Ghadal was born in 1931 in the town of Sennar. He emerged as one of the first breed of physicians who graduated at Kitchener medical college .
Any impressive success in the control of Malaria in Sennar in 1963 was due to the efforts exerted by him and his dedicated staff in Malaria eradication center which he established and had become its first director.
His medical feat now is of difficult achievement because Malaria has recurred virulently after it was rife in certain places in Sudan. professor. Ahmed Ayoub Al-Ghadal served as WHO Consultant in Qatar and then he was moved and seconded to happy Yemen where he felt homesick and his feet settled on the earth of Khartoum in 1967. At that time, he was appointed as the Director of International Relation at the Ministry of Health. He assumed that post until 1981. Next, he superintended the formation of a health insurance scheme in Wed Medani where the project was carried out by WHO under tripartite partnerships:American,Sudanese and Japanese. Another thing worth remembering is that professor. Ahmed Ayoub Al-Ghadal worked as a public health consultant in the municipality of Ein at the United Arabs of Emirates in 1995.He returned to his country so as not prove the old proverb " While the grass grows, the steed starves Presently, he is acting the head of Community Medicine at Sennar University for which he is an asset. He should be boasted of .. We pray to Allah to keep him healthy and reward him for his good deeds.
