Abdul-Aziz Ali Omer
Muhammad Al-hassan is a reporter on the general beat . Coincidentally , one of his visits to Cairo, the timeless city as president Obama put it took place on 23rd July. 23rd July, 1952 is the anniversary of free officers coup or23rd, July revolution . Muhammad Saied leaned back to recapture the scene of 23rd, July revolution. The Sudanese greeted with hope and enthusiasm not because of overthrowing the monarchy or feudal regime but because of the presence of a man they knew well in the lead of that revolution. He gave his name as Gen. Muhammad Naguib. He identified Khartoum as the city in which he was born and educated. He added that his brother Ali Naguib served as an officer in the Egyptian army mission in several cities. Muhammad Al-hassan invited me to his private room that has a collection of portraits of men with chauvinistic attitudes in Sudan and Egypt. Who s this? I wanted to know. Anwar Sadat, who broadcasted the first communiqué of 23rd July revolution . he replied. After that my eyes landed on another spectacle .As he took note of my casual interest , he began to recount the story of that photograph. These are senior members of National Unionist party and Khatamiya sect. It is a congratulatory delegation sent by Ali Mirghani who nurtured nationalist movement . these two men on the forefront are his sons who on his behalf gave his blessing to the 23rd July revolution Council Command. How Sudanese were rewarded as result of their warmest congratulation to 23rd July revolution leaders? He replied ' after the 1953 self-rule agreement and the winning of National Unionist Party with a majority vote in the first elected parliament, the visiting Sudanese delegation to Cairo were feted in Cairo. As with the cordial relations between the charismatic leader Jamal Abdul Nassir and Ali Mirghani , he told me that president Jamal Abdul nassir was keen to visit Mr. Ali Mirghani to chat with him in his residence at Al exandaria palace. One last thing , Muhammad Al-hassan related to me was an aborted attempt for eliminating president Jamal Abdulnassir while his friend Ali Ali Mirghani was in attendance at Almanshiya square where a bullet interrupted Jamal Abdula nassir speech to the masses. . Muhammad Al-hassan remembered the testimony of Osman Al mirghani about the incident . He said that president Jamal Abdulnassir kept his composure and instructed the audience to stay calm . He also mentioned that Hamaza Margini, the irrigation minster at the time in Khartoum was injured by the fragments of flying glasses smashed by the stray bullet.
