Only two short weeks before, Adam's family heard the familiar hum of a government Antonov bomber. They had time to scurry to two makeshift bomb shelters before nine bombs were released from the plane's cargo hold Those who hid in the dugout next to an old tree escaped unscathed. Those who sought sanctuary in a. rocky depression in the side of the mountain however, met a different fate. One of the bombs scored a nearly direct hit Adam lost his mother, wife, and daughter all at once.

When I was in the Nuba Mountains, I saw the bombers overhead trolling and looking for people to drop bombs on. I also saw a giant crater about 100 yards from a school – a bomb was dropped mid day when kids were in school but the bomb missed the school.

ON MARCH 7, AN ANTONOV AIRPLANE CIRCLING OVER BURAM COUNTY, SOUTH KORDOFAN DROPPED 8 BOMBS IN THE REGION NOBODY WAS HURT IN THE ATTACK. THE BOMBINGS STARTED AROUND 3:15 PM. THE ANTONOV DROPPED 2 BOMBS IN ANGOLO DESTROYING 1 HOUSE; 3 BOMBS IN TOROJI; 1 BOMB IN TABANYA CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE TABANYA PRIMARY SCHOOL AND 1 BOMB IN BURAM. A NUBA REPORTS JOURNALIST WITNESSED THE BOMBING AND PHYSICALLY CONFIRMED THE LOCATIONS OF THE IMPACT SITES.

Eyes and Ears Nuba is a network of citizen reporters dedicated to covering the war along the Nuba Mountains. After fighting broke out in June 2011, the government of Sudan banned journalists from the region.
