Your forum is really different from the Arabic one...do you have
an a explanation for that ..it seems that Sudaneseonliners are more
tolerant when they are debating in English and so aggressive and
abusive in Arabic!!
Please help us establishing the same traditions in the Arabic forum
because it becomes a hateful place filled with hatred, bitterness
and verbal violence.

Even though I am a new participant in SOL and the English Forum but I happily assume the responsibility of welcoming you and all others to this quite Oasis.
I believe we try as much as we can to be and stay subjective by READING what others write and try to positivly contribute.

I came across your post, which really encouraged me to join this forum. It is quite quiet and peaceful here as you well said. Thanks to God, I do not find here some members of the Arabic forum who usually use abusive and foul language. Let us live up to the civilized conduct of this forum in order to maintain constructive dialogue and exchange of knowledge.

This is true.Unfortunately, besides other factors, members of the Arabic forum are divided into groups, which tend to defend each other by all means, whether they are right or wrong. In their endevour to do so they easily resort to bad language, thus become very intolerant.

What is going on in the Arabic forum is frustrating and certainly the environment
there is not suitable for a person like you brought up to respect others even if his

Well said. I refrain from taking part in political issues in the Arabic forum because some members there, once they lose logic, easily use abusive language.

Do you really think it is because of the language that others tend to be more hostile in their mother tongue?
I think it is a cultural deffeicency rather than fluency.
Or may be it is the group behaviour, group mentality or group reaction!!!
I do not know for sure how the quite(quiet), respectable, often reasonable and tolerant Sudanese Personality can somtimes act irrationaly.
Side Note:SOOO Many Sudanese are working in the field of Behavioural Modification & Treatment in Philadelphia.... I always say may be we (as sudanese)need some behavioural analysis....

Any way lets enjoy this peace for now...

With due respect to your point of view, I can not rule out language factor. I noticed that some of those who use foul language in the Arabic forum do not possess English language fluency. Hence they can not express their contribution in English.

I think it is far easier to quarrel with others in your native tongue.
I remember that once we were in Egypt and as usual we had a fight with
a taxi driver whom we hired to take us to Alhussien, our leader in the
battle was a Nubian from Halfa who at one point started to shout at the
driver in (Rotana), he explained to us later that he found it easier

I have been to Philadelphia last October to visit my dear friend Hassn Wardi, he is in the same business.....when they return back to Sudan they should do somthing to
help us modify our behavior.

I gree and I that poeple down here are quite good.

In terms of being aggressive towards others in your own language is easier than when you use a second language but sometimes it depends on the topic you are aguing about.

let keep our fingers crossed for the English forum to be the way it is.

Let me start resuming my activity here by responding to our friend Dr.Alsadig.
It is an observation rather than an assumption and this observation is at the
level of sudaneseonliners, but I think a generalization can be made here: all
Sudanese intellectuals including those who are holding some government posts, have
different, more lighter and more amiable tone when speaking in English and when their
Audience consists of westerners.
Reasons for that was partially discussed in some of the above posts, but I would
like to add one more reason here; Hypocrisy.
