We have been closely monitoring and documenting the violent repression and systematic violation exercised by the Sudanese regime in order to suppress the freedom of expression and to silence the free and independent media in the Sudan, so that the media does not cover the voice of Sudanese revolution and the shocking human right violations in the country.

In the past few days, the regime has gone on to believe that the politics of oppression will stop the revolution tide and break the determination of the citizens to complete the journey. In doing so the regime has led a ruthless and fierce campaign against the press through censorship and banning of national newspapers such as Aljareeda , Al-Maidan, Al-Baath and Al-Mustaqbal more than once, not only did they withdraw the licenses of correspondents Saad Eddin Hassan Abdalla of Alarabyia TV channel and Ahmed al-Raheid and Osama Sayed Ahmed from Al-Jazeera TV, journalist Bahram Abdel Moneim, editor of the Anatolian Turkish Agency and others. Our colleagues Adel Color , Akil Ahmed, Qureshi Awad, Kamal Karrar, Ismail Bilal and Omar Juma, photographer Mohammed Babiker is under arrest so far. The regime has forgotten that nowadays transparency and enlightenment is no longer depends on mainstream media but every citizen is a journalist and reporter.

The Sudanese Journalists and Media Association of the United Kingdom strongly condemns these systematic attacks by the regime on the freedom of opinion and expression in the country in defiance of international covenants. The regime has not only abused the media, but since the eruption of the revolution on December 19, 2018, violence and systematic killings have been carried out against the sons and daughters of Sudan who have come to peacefully express their demands for justice, freedom and peace for the people of Sudan. In the past few days, attacks have intensified and security personnels have beaten a professor at the University of Khartoum and attacked with batons and verbal violence against doctors, engineers, lawyers and others. This fierce onslaught become the only policy of the regime to confront the peaceful protestors who chant the slogan (peaceful peaceful ). We at the Sudanese Journalists and Media Professionals Association of the United Kingdom call on the regime to stop attacks on journalists and media professionals, stop suppress press freedom, and we affirm that we will not hesitate to protect our colleagues( journalists and media professionals ) at home by all legal means, starting with contacting and engaging human rights organizations working in the field of protection of journalists and press freedoms, exercise of our right to communicate with the British and international media to shed the light on the violation of press freedoms in Sudan, and to undergo all legal proceedings in the United Kingdom in cooperation with human rights organizations in defence of our colleagues in the Sudan who are subjected to physical violence and oppression . We assure our colleagues at home that the coming days will witness intense movement from the association of Sudanese journalists and media professionals in Britain to raise the issue of violations with media institutions and press freedom organisation.
