Obituary: Mohamed Ali ( The Greatest ).

Boxing is a legitimate athletic endeavor, in the framework of training for self-defence , and defending the motherland.

But in our world of twisted values, boxing was transformed into a commercial enterprise , where the audience revels in watching humans punching each other.

This askewed aspect of boxing transforms dignified humans into a commercial commodity , whereby audiences enjoy watching humans punching each other. This twisted aspect of boxing does not conform with human dignity and human rights.

This is indeed an immoral dimension of boxing.

We have seen how this pleasure of audiences reveling in humans punching each other has caused Mohamed Ali ( The Greatest ) lasting irrepairable damage. This severe damage , resulting from hundreds of punches to his head, destroyed the health of Mohamed Ali , and deprived him of a normal healthy livelihood. As a result and alas , he lived the rest of his life more or less a dying man.

Mohamed Ali has indeed the intellectual property of the fine art of sparring dodge and movement agility tansforming boxing into a sort of a dancing tournament. This feat his earned him a huge popularity and a big edge on his other competitors .

But this gainful feat , however big, does not justify plundering human dignity , sacrificing health, even life itself , as has dramatically befallen the deceased.

But Mohamed Ali was not just a boxer. He is to be blessed for many great accomplishments, such as :

+ He successfully promoted universal human rights and in particular the civil rights of black Americans.

+ He adopted high moral references , refusing to be drafted into the American Army , fighting against a legitimate freedom movement in Vietnam. He actively participated in the strong national movement which forced the American leadership to withdraw from Vietnam, allowing the Vietnamese to attain self-rule in 1975.

+ Mohamed Ali adopted Islam of his own free will , and became a strong voice for promoting and proselytizing Islam.

We pray for Alimighty to bless his soul . We offer our heart-felt condolences to his family and his nation in the United States of America .

Albeit different in religious creed, they are brothers in citizenship and in humanity.
