A political newspaper has been seized from the printing presses by the Sudanese security service for two days in a row.

Print runs of the dailyandnbsp;El Mustagillaandnbsp;were confiscated again in Khartoumandnbsp;on Sunday morning. The Sudanese Journalists Network condemned the confiscation in a statement the same day, calling for the release of journalists and publishers from the grip of the security authorities.

“Stand against this encroachment and absurd acts that reflect the regime’s growing suppression of newspapers, journalists, and freedom of speech,” the Network said.

No reasons were given for the confiscations ofandnbsp;El Mustagilla.

It demanded the immediate release, or a fair trial of the detained journalist Ahmed Zuheir Daoud. He has been held for more than a month after he covered students demonstrations at Khartoum University forandnbsp;El Midanandnbsp;newspaper. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has also called for Daoud's release.
