Khartoum, May 3 (SUNA)- Assistant of the President of the Republic, Engineer Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid, and the leading figure of the National Umma Party, Mubarak Al-Fadil Al-Mahdi, Tuesday reviewed in presence of the Political Secretary of the National Congress, Hamid Mumtaz, the general situation in the country, with concentration which was presented by the African Union High-Level Implementation Panel and signed by the government.
In a press statement after his meeting Tuesday at the Republican Palace with the Assistant of the President, Mubarak Al-Fadil said that the meeting has discussed means of pushing ahead the roadmap, the peace process and dialogue for solving the national issues.
Al-Mahdi said that the roadmap has provided solutions and put clear-cut bases to press ahead in discussing the national issues.
He said that the meeting has discussed means of establishing a joint national mechanism of the major political forces to implement the roadmap.
He said that the meeting also tackled the phenomenon of student violence and its impact on the stability of universities and communities.
Al-Mahdi said that he and Engineer Ibrahim Mahmoud agreed that the conditions are favorable regionally and internationally to help Sudan surpass its crises via joint work.
The Political Secretary of the National Congress, Hamid Mumtaz, said that the meeting was focused on the African Union's roadmap on ground that it is the sole means to realize stability in South Kordofan and the Blue Nile, adding that the meeting also discussed means of uniting efforts of the political and national forces, achieving Sudan openness to the world toward ending the blockade imposed on the country and ways to confront the student violence.
He described the meeting as the start for cooperation with the political leaders toward reaching consensus over the supreme interests of the country.
