Agents of Sudan’s National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) arrested 23 graduates of the University of Khartoum on Saturday during a protest carried out at the university against the government policies to sell the land of the university and move the faculties to Soba.
One of the students told Radio Dabanga that the campaign of arrests came after a number of graduates demanded that the university administration should clarify its stance on the issue of sale of the university premises.
He said that the NISS, in cooperation with the university guards, arrested 23 of the graduates. “About 20 graduates of the University are still in detention, and their families have not been able to establish their whereabouts.

Also on Saturday, Sudanese living in London staged a demonstration in solidarity with the University of Khartoum students against the government’s plan to sell the university buildings, and the extensive campaign of arrests against the students in Khartoum.
The protesters handed a memorandum to the Office of the British Prime Minister and the Sudanese Embassy.
