UAE stresses readiness to expand investments in Sudan

Khartoum, April 12 (SUNA) - The Minister of Investment Dr. Mudathir Abdul-Ghani has discussed in Dubai with the UAE Minister of Environment Dr. Thani Saeed Al-Mansur the development of relations between the two countries and Sudan role in achieving Arab food security.
The UAE minister described, in statements to the press in Dubai, Sudan investment possibilities as tremendous, particularly in the fields of agriculture, stressing his country's readiness to develop investments in Sudan and to engage into major investments, especially in the area of meat and to provide technical assistance in the field of alternative power generation for agricultural production.
The Minister of Investment asserted, during his participation at the Investment Forum in Dubai, the Government's concern with UAE investments in Sudan, referring to the issuance of Presidential Directives on special sponsorship to them.
Abdal-Ghani pointed out to the existence of advanced UAE investments in Sudan and important in the issue of food security, alluding to the state trend towards encouraging investment in alternative energy in agriculture and industry, referring to the availability of integrated studies on energy projects.
The UAE minister welcomed the invitation of the Investment Minister to visit Sudan to get acquainted with the cooperation opportunities and bridging the needs of UAE for meat.
The meeting between the Investment Minister the UAE Minister of Economy Dr. Engineer Sultan bin Saeed underscored, in the presence of Sudan's ambassador to the UAE, on the importance of developing economic cooperation between the two countries and the expanding in investments through the UAE private sector. The meeting also discussed the investment climate and opportunities in Sudan, particularly in the tourism sector and real estates. The UAE minister said the joint cooperation consolidated the chances to build the economy, especially that Sudan enjoys great economic potentials.
The UAE Minister of Economy called for development of a vision on UAE investments according to a timetable to be presented to the Council of UAE Investments Abroad, touching on the possibility of investment in the free zones and sea ports on the Red Sea coast along with the agricultural sector, food and processing industries depending on the Sudanese products.
For his part, the Minister of Investment announced existence of strategic investment projects ready for implementation in terms of economic feasibility studies in the agricultural sector and mining, calling for expansion of UAE investments in Sudan.
