The Sudan Liberation Movement/Army appeal the International Humanitarian community across the globe to help our displaced people in Jabal Marra due to latest Sudan Government attacks on their homes that started on 15/1/2016 up to date. The estimated displace according to SLM/A statistics about 730,400 innocent civilians were displaced from their village in North, West, East and South Jabal Marra. However; itâs absolutely difficult to measure the full scale death, destruction and displacement in and around Jebel Marra as the aerial bombardment and ground attacks are continuing hitherto, with hundreds of thousands other displaced civilians thought refuge inside caves of Jebel Marra facing certain death as Khartoum closed corridors and imposed total humanitarian embargo in Jebel Marra and in an eerie silence of the world community. Meanwhile; The IDPs and refugees of Darfur in their concentration camps, today are dying in great numbers especially children because of stunting and cute malnutrition, fatal diseases and atrocious conditions in all the camps
Unfortunately; the exacerbating humanitarian situation and violence ârelated morality is not reported by the U.N or U.N/African Union peacekeeping mission in Darfur(UNAMID) as the figures are hundreds of thousands. Itâs true that, UN has not released any mortality assessment or data since its crude estimate of 300,000 offered in April 2008, more than eight years ago.
Moreover; the ever-increasing scale of displacement, death toll and genocidal destruction of Khartoum in Darfur as well as in Nuba Mountain and the Blue Nile is coupled with rapid dwindling of humanitarian capacity on the ground that serves the genocidal agenda of Khartoum which is to starve the victims to death. Ever since, the expulsion of the thirteen humanitarian relief organizations on 5th of March 2009 from Darfur and Sudan, the IDPs and refugees continue to suffer, as Khartoum is adamant to close the camps and remove the rationale for an international existence that indicates system in Khartoum is more powerful than decisions of UNSC. Therefore; we appeal to UNSC and its partners, UNâs office for coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to put pressure on Khartoum to respect its obligation under international humanitarian law, in particular with regard to the protection of civilians and to allow safe, timely and unfettered access for international aid organizations to save genocide survivors in Darfur.
