Sudan’s Minerals Ministry seeks to settle the mining industry to support the economics

Sudan’s Minerals Minister, Dr. Ahmed Al Karori has announced that his ministry is seeking to settle the mining industry locally in order to support the economics of the country, especially in the field of gold, iron, chrome, black sand and manganese.
The statements came on Thursday during the meeting of Al Karori with representative of M.E.M multinational companies group.
Chairman of M.E.M group John Jackson affirmed the group's readiness to work in the mining field in Sudan, where the group is one of the biggest companies in the world, composed of Swedish, Russian and UAE companies.
In the same context, Sudan’s Minerals Minister met with the Saudi businessman Kamal Alguhny who voiced his companies' desire to work in the industrial minerals in Sudan, indicating that his companies have an economic partnership with other Swedish companies, stressing the importance of cooperation with the Ministry of Minerals regarding labs and experiments.
There are more than 162 companies operating in mining in Sudan. 51 of them are foreign, representative of 17 nationalities, while 111 of them are national mining companies, beside 177 companies that work in the field of small mining.
