Sudan receives more than 100,000 South Sudanese fleeing war

Sudan’s government has revealed that more than 100,000 South Sudanese have migrated from the state of South Sudan due to the wars flaring up in State
Deputy Governor of the White Nile state, Ali Adam Olian, said on Monday that the citizens of South Sudan crossed into his state which received them as citizens not refugees and were accommodated in As Salam camp.
He pointed out that these huge numbers need more services, which they share with the citizens of the state, a matter that prompted the high committee in the centre and the High Commission of Refugees to come on the spot to consolidate their conditions.
He noted that war is still raging near the Sudanese borders, "causing us to expect the arrival of more South Sudan citizens at the White Nile state, a matter that adds a new burden to the states services network along with the return the Sudanese citizens residing in south Sudan to reside in the state". Olian called on the donors and the United Nations Organisations to support the services network.
For his part, General Commissioner of Humanitarian work Ahmed Mohamed Adam affirmed that South Sudan is still in a turbulent situation expecting efforts from the donors and the United Nations hoping that those in the South to reach peace to mitigate the burden on the Sudanese authorities which received the IDPS out of the genuine custom of the Sudanese people, which the southerners received in the camps forgetting about the bitterness of separation.
Representative of the United Nations Refugees Commission Juliana thanked the Sudanese authorities for opening the borders with South Sudan State and the receiving and housing the arrivers.
She affirmed that they provide all those who entered White Nile State with food and accommodation to more than 12,000 citizens, noting that the Commission, the Sudanese Red Crescent and the Passports Administration are registering the new arrivals.
