Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Ali Karti, has discussed with the Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn the proposed railway linking the two countries and the mutual issues.
Ethiopian News Agency ENA said that the two parties held talks on Tuesday in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa while the visiting of top Sudanese diplomat Karti to Addis Ababa.
ENA pointed out that the talks focused on a planned railway line linking the two neighboring countries which is scheduled to be launched next year.
For his part, Karti said Sudan hoped to bolster cooperation with Ethiopia in the areas of trade, investment and infrastructure, while also invited Hailemariam to attend Al Bashir's swearing-in ceremonies
Al-Bashir won re-election in a vote the opposition boycotted and Western governments denounced. The victory extends the nearly three-decade rule of the head of state, which is wanted by the International Criminal Court on war-crimes charges.
The opposition boycotted the election, citing a widespread crackdown on civil society and the media, which they say created an impossible environment to fairly contest Al- Bashir’s presidency. The boycott left voters with a choice among Mr. Bashir and 19 relatively unknown figures.
