Sudan’s East Darfur State government has announced that Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has pulled out Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) from Samaha area in Bahr Al-Arab locality following the defeat of the rebel Darfur’s Justice and Equality Movement at Goz Dango area in South Darfur last week
Bahr Al-Arab Locality Commissioner, Salim Hassan, said that the SPLA forces interned into South Sudan borders fearing to be included in the cleansing operations conducted by the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to all the bordering areas, pointing out to the deployment of Sudanese army to close the outlets from the far west of Sheikan up to Um Ajaja to prevent the infiltration of JEM remnants.
Hassan revealed security arrangements under the supervision of the authorities in the State to secure the borders of East Darfur against any attempts to inter into Sudan, calling for establishing development projects to serve the nomads and encourage them stay in their areas.
Sudanese president visited the area where fighting broke out on Sunday between troops of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and rebels of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), supported by combatants of the Sudanese Liberation Movement led by Minni Minawi (SLM-MM).
Defence Minister Abdelrahim Mohamed Hussein announced on Monday that the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) have closed all border crossings with South Sudan. He claimed that the JEM combatants received extensive training “for one year and a half year”, from foreign experts in South Sudan, “to destabilize Sudan and sabotage the election”.
