Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) said on Saturday that the rebels of Sudan Peopleā€™s Liberation Movement/North (SPLM-N) have attacked the town of Habeela in South Kordofan state, accusing the rebels of carrying out sabotage actions and destroying the civilian homes, facilities and torched the commercial market.
SAF spokesperson, al-Sawarmi Khaled Saā€™ad told Sudanā€™s News Agency (SUNA) has reinforced its troops in the areas and took control of the situation after rebels have been expelled from the area
Sudanese conflict in South Kordofan and Blue Nile is an ongoing armed conflict in South Kordofan and Blue Nile between (SAF) and (SPLM-N), a northern affiliate of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) in South Sudan. After some years of relative calm following the 2005 deal which ended the second Sudanese civil war between the Sudanese government and SPLM rebels, fighting broke out again in the lead-up to South Sudan independence on 9 July 2011, starting in South Kordofan on 5 June 2011 and spreading to the neighboring Blue Nile state in September 2011 . SPLM-N took up arms against the inclusion of the two southern states in Sudan with no popular consultation and against the lack of democratic elections
