Sudanese, who fled the armed conflicts in Libya, complain about the imposition of high levies and taxes upon their return.

Speaking to Dabanga from Dongola in northern Sudan, one of the returnees said that the war in Libya forced them to return home in dire circumstances.

“Yet instead of welcoming us with hugs, and congratulating us on our safe return, they received us welcomed us with customs fees. We are supposed to pay a large amount of taxes on our hard-earned property we brought with us from Libya, including fees on used telephones and televisions.â€

He appealed to the authorities to take their circumstances into consideration, and exempt them from paying the customs fees.
