The Sudanese Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Abdullah al-Azrag has described his meeting with U.S Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, Steven Feldstein, as “frank and transparent” while the U.S. official expressed her wish to visit the Chairman of the opposition National Consensus Forces (NCF) Farouk Abu Issa in the prison and al-Azrag said that the request will be forwarded to the relevant authorities.
In press statements on Sunday, Sudanese diplomat disclosed that the meeting focused explicitly on the human rights, democracy and the national dialogue, informing Feldstein that the national dialogue is Sudanese initiative, welcoming the partial lifting of U.S sanctions on Sudan, describing the U.S unilateral sanctions as unfair due to their impact on people's living conditions
He noted that the direct bilateral dialogue is the best way to develop relations between Khartoum and Washington, calling for more similar consultative meetings.
For her part, American official expressed her happiness to meet the Sudanese Foreign Ministry Undersecretary to learn about democracy and human rights developments and the national dialogue, in addition to learn about the situation in Darfur
“We have exchanged many views about files and I hope the visit achieve its goals” She added
