The Secretary General of IGAD's Inter-Parliamentary Union, Dawood Burhan, stressed that the Executive Committee of Parliamentary Union will discuss, during its sixth meeting to be held at Khartoum 23-25 Feb. the challenges facing IGAD countries regarding peace, security and the fight against poverty, adding that the agenda of Khartoum Summit would open the door wide to the IGAD States to start new developments according to the world scene.
At a press conference he held at Khartoum on Friday, Burhan said that he came to Sudan to identify the arrangements for the General Conference of the Parliament, adding that Sudan is one of the countries that founded the idea of Parliamentary Union, praising Sudanese government’s role to succeed the IGAD programs
He explained that the Union is seeking to integrate IGAD countries, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan, economically and socially.
For his part, the General Secretary of the National Council, Abdul Gader, said that the Speaker of Sudan’s Parliament Dr. Fatih Izz al-Din has sent invitations to the heads of the IGAD countries to attend the Conference
