The Executive Director of UN Economic Commission for Africa, Carlos Lopez, is expected to visit Sudanese capital, Khartoum on Saturday on a three-day official visit to.
The Director of Exports Department at Sudanese Ministry of Commerce, Abdel Aziz Abu Taleb told journalists on Friday that this visit is the first of its kind made by a high-level delegation from the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and considered positive signal, especially in the economic fields, in addition to its contribution to capacity-building of State-related institutions and studies to mitigate the negative impact of joining Sudan to a number of regional blocs , and it also will promote the country in social and economic areas.
Abu Taleb disclosed that the delegation of UN Economic Commission for Africa will visit Merowe Dam and a number of economic and development projects in Darfur, pointing out that the delegation will also meet President Omar al-Bashir and several of Sudanese ministers and the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan
He added the delegation will hold a symposium on the development planning, noting that the delegation will sign a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Commerce aims to provide technical assistance to build capacity in the Ministry.
