Jan 07, 2015-Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Sudan’s ruling National Congress Party (NCP) has denied any direction to relieve Governors of the states at present. Head of the party's political sector, Mustafa Osman Ismail, said in statements on Tuesday that issue of the governors is not on the agenda of the Leadership Bureau, explaining that the Bureau meeting will look at the final nominations prepared by the party’s high elections committee in the light of the reports of the states.
The NCP leading figure revealed that his party renounced 30% of the geographical constituencies to its allies from the political parties, calling on the members of the party to abide by the resolutions of the organs and institutions of the party and support the party's candidates in upcoming elections.
NCP announced last October that it would forgo the direct election of state governors and instead recommend their appointment by the president of the republic
President al-Bashir underlined the tribal and ethnic alliances that transpired during the regional conventions particularly in Darfur when it came to select the nominees for governor, and called to correct the “negative effects” of the current territorial administrative system.
