December 30, 2014-Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-The UN Security Council will hold today, Tuesday, a closed meeting on consequences of Sudan’s decision to expel UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Ali Za’atari and UN Development Programme Country Director Yvonne Helle from the country.
Informed source told Khartoum-based Al-Rai Al-A’am newspaper that the meeting will be allocated to members only, during which members stand on the details of what happened and the reasons for taking the step.
The sources said that Sudan will not be a participant in the meeting, but explained that Sudan in good position due to support of friendly States, expecting that UN Security Council would issue a presidential or press release at the end of the meeting to clarify his position
“Sudan is not targeting the United Nations by virtue of being an original member [of the UN] and committed to the provisions of its charter and appreciates its efforts to achieve security, stability and development in Sudan. It is actually striving to develop this relationship in accordance with the provisions of the UN charter and the relevant resolutions of the General Assembly and the Security Council”. Sudan’s Foreign Ministry said in statement on Saturday.
